The Woodshop at O’Brien Farm

Contemporary Heritage Carpentry

Windows and furniture are an essential part of maintaining the heritage significance of homes and public buildings. These have historically been built using beautiful, sustainable and renewable materials that can last for generations. At the Woodshop, we work to respect the traditional building methods and materials, providing quality services that are timeless and suited to fit our partners’ and customers’ needs

In 2024 the O’Brien Farm Foundation partnered with Heritage NL to create the Window Restoration Workshop. Through their joint interest in preserving Newfoundland heritage and educating the public, HeritageNL and the O’Brien Farm built a new workshop at the farm to provide the heritage community with wood windows workshops, repairs and restorations.

Now, we are happy to move into a new social enterprise phase, in which The Woodshop at O’Brien Farm is open to the public, providing a wider range of repair, restoration and furniture construction services.

Our heritage carpenters offer services in:

  • Heritage carpentry in general.

  • Heritage wood window repair and restoration

  • Construction of heritage storm windows and bifold storm doors.
